This treatment can be applied to individuals of all ages (babies, children and adults), and handlings appropriate to each age group, the aim of the concept is to facilitate functional movement and inhibit movements and abnormal postures.
This concept was developed in London by Karel Bobath (neurologist) and Berta Bobath (physiotherapist) through clinical practice with neurological patients. Thus, this treatment is suitable to various diseases affecting the nervous system.
The physical therapy based on the Bobath concept works with the facilitation of movement, ie the patient learns certain movements and integrates through its own execution, and automatic adjustments available in various forms posture, to produce reactions protection, correction and balance . Through this technique the individual should be able to start, continue or complete a functional task (motor activity) more adequately possible through specific handlings (direct intervention of the therapist), or indirectly, by influencing changes in the environment in which the patient is inserted.
Our therapeutic approach involves action analysis and interpretation of assessment data. From this, targets are set short and long term, are to be able to develop and implement a treatment plan specific to each patient.
